Sermon Notes

Main Scripture

“Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’” —John 8:31–32

Supporting Scripture

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.” —John 1:1–5

Quotes

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” —Viktor E. Frankl

Metaphysics*

word—God in His capacity as creative power, and includes all the potentialities of Being.

disciples—Active spiritual thoughts

truth—The Absolute; that which accords with God as divine principle; that which is, has been, and ever will be; that which eternally is.

freedom—We can never know the full meaning of freedom until we abide in the Christ consciousness.

Without prayer and spiritual meditation there can be no concept of spiritual freedom and, therefore, no demonstration of it.
