Chakra Toning Meditation – Nov. 24

Posted in Events

This Osho meditation balances the seven main chakras by using vocalization to bring harmony to the chakra energy system.

We will chant transformative vowel sounds into each of the energy centers, slowly moving up the chakras, then down, several times.

Like other chakra balancing meditations, this is an energizing, rejuvenating meditation that counteracts the effects of stress by removing energy blocks. Best of all, it develops your inner power by increasing your ability to be still.

Bring a mat if you wish to lie down or sit on the floor for the silent phase at the end of the meditation. Love offerings are gratefully accepted.

Childcare available during our meditation time!

Note: No Active Meditations in December. We will resume the first Tuesday in January.

Quilt Raffle

Posted in Announcements

The Unity Church of Fort Worth’s Donation Quilt for 2015 uses the quilt design called Paradigm Shift.

Our quilt is pieced using a log cabin style block. Log cabin patterned blocks are old designs that have been found in fabric from ancient Egypt. The block is made using light and dark strips around a central square. The light and dark strips symbolize a belief in life’s balance. The color of the central square sends a message. Traditionally a red center meant a warm hearth and heart in your home, yellow represented a home’s welcoming light and during the U.S. civil war a black center signaled a safe stop for escaping slaves on the underground railroad.

We have chosen a teal/turquoise center to represent CALM, emotional healing, spirituality, loyalty, and protection.
These blocks are traditionally set in symmetrical rows. In choosing ” Paradigm Shift” for this quilt we celebrate both the balance of life and the fact that a new twist can energize and shift the flow of your life in an unexpected and desirable direction.

Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing for the winner of the quilt will be on December 13th.

How Unity Fort Worth Started

Posted in Announcements

Prayer Chaplain Letter, October, 2015.

Have you ever wondered how Unity Fort Worth got started?

Rev. Ruth Johnston became a Texas pioneer for the Unity movement. She had not planned to do so, it just worked out that way.

Born into an aristocratic Southern family, Ruth had assumed she would be “an old maid.” She surprised her relatives by getting married later in life to a widower who just happened to own an insurance company. Her family assumed her lifestyle of affluence would cause her to just relax and enjoy life. Instead, after the early death of her husband, she found solace and inspiration in the Unity teachings.

For several years she went regularly to Missouri to study with Charles Fillmore. In due time he said, “Ruth, while I was in meditation, spirit told me you should go to Fort Worth, Texas and found a Unity church there.” Her family was aghast, regarding Fort Worth as nothing more than “a Texas cowtown” as depicted in movies about the Old West. Nevertheless, she obediently left her home town and state of Louisville, Kentucky and relocated to Fort Worth.

Her legacy not only included a thriving church and congregation, but a highly respected reputation that spread near and far. Whether she meant to or not, she became another “Texas pioneer” now accounted for. (Excerpt from New Thought Magazine – Autumn 2009)
