Covid-19 Update: Survey Results & BOT Decision

Executive Summary

  • After a careful review of our recently held survey by the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the Covid-19 Task Force (C19TF), the decision has been made to not consider Phase 2A as a viable option at this time. Additionally, the BOT decided to keep our buildings closed until at least the end of this year.

Phase 2A

Phase 2A is a pre-step toward Phase 2 in our reopening process. This phase would have allowed a limited number of congregants to meet in the sanctuary to watch the live-stream on screen while observing all the necessary precautions. The survey was designed to recognize our congregation’s willingness to enter this next phase.

Survey Results

Both the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the Covid-19 Task Force (C19TF) carefully reviewed the detailed survey results to identify the level of desire and readiness to meet for Sunday services in the Sanctuary building even under specific limitations (see Phase 2A). These are the results:

  • 92 individuals (members, non-members, and unaffiliated*) responded to the survey.

  • After controlling for test questions, non-compliance, and unaffiliated individuals, only five (5) individuals (3 members, 2 congregants) were willing to meet as defined by Phase 2A.

  • Out of the five (5) individuals willing to meet, three (3) were willing to volunteer.

Due to the low number of individuals meeting under the conditions of Phase 2A, the BOT decided not to move forward with this phase.

*unaffiliated: individuals who were not found in our contact database.

Buildings Remain Closed

After review and consideration of the survey results as well as the current development of the pandemic in our area and beyond, the Board of Trustees (BOT) decided to keep the buildings closed until at least the end of the year. The already implemented Phase 1 (since June 2020) will remain intact. Efforts will be made to offer outdoor events, which potentially include:

  • Small group and team meetings

  • Coffee Chats

  • Food and Toy Drives

  • Thanksgiving Luncheon (BYO)

  • Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

  • Burning Bowl Ceremony

This list is not exhaustive and may change as necessary to keep everyone safe throughout this pandemic.
