Sunday Morning Teams

Ushers: Ushers welcome those entering the service, hand out bulletins, take up the offering and help with the smooth running of the service. Team leader: Shawn Belt (817) 563-6499 and Joan Woods

Welcoming Team: The welcome team greets people as they arrive at church and staffs the information table which provides brochures, flyers, and other materials about the events and activities of our church community. Team Leader: Bob Courtney (817) 461-1010.

Refreshments: The refreshment team provides coffee, tea and refreshments for fellowship times after each service. Team Leader: Bill Sikma (817) 244-9117.

Name Tag Team: One sunday a month our congregation and our guests are invited to wear a name tag to encourage fellowship among our members.  Team Leader: Barbara Adams (817) 568-0632


Crossing Guards: The crossing guards provide safety for those crossing the street between parking lots and a friendly face to greet everyone. Team leader, Don Evon, (817) 763-8078.

Standby's: Unity Church of Ft. Worth maintains a standby list of those unable to serve regularly, but who are available occasionally. Contact the office: (817) 423-2965.

Youth and Family Ministry


Core Creative Team: This group of core volunteers meets with the YFM director monthly to formulate and implement the unfolding vision for our Youth & Family Ministry. Contact the church office for more info.

Nursery-5th Grade: Babyhuggers, teachers, greeters, musicians, special event volunteers, and substitutes serve our children. Join an incredible team of volunteers!  We have separate space and classes for infants, toddlers, preschool to kindergarten, 1st-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, and 5th grade. Primary sign up months are April and October. Contact the church office at 817.423.2965.

Uniteens (6th-8th graders): Consider serving our younger teens who meet on Sundays at 11 a.m. and participate in other special events and service projects. Contact our Uniteen sponsors: Bryant Griffith, Lisa Levey, Kevin Mogul, and David Smith, or the church office at 817.423.2965.

Y.O.U. (Youth of Unity, 9th-12th graders): Here is a dynamic opportunity to make a difference by supporting these teens through teaching, facilitating service projects, and, at times, attending regional and international rallies. Family Events Planning:
During the year, intergenerational activities are scheduled to create a strong sense of family throughout the church. Help in envisioning, creating, planning, and staffing these events. Contact the church office at 817.423.2965.

Music Ministry

The Unity Singers Choir rehearses Tuesday evenings 7:30 p.m. There is a summer break. New members are received September and January. Ensemble singing is also available.

Handchimers Choir rehearses at times throughout the year, usually leading up to a choir concert.  New members are welcome!  Contact Peter Lufkin at 817.455.2439 for further details.  Be sure to check our calendar for rehearsal times!

Other Service Opportunities

Bookstore: The Higher Shelf Bookstore is staffed by volunteers. Sherry Frantz, Manager (817) 423-2974

Special Events Team: Throughout the year, Unity Church of Ft. Worth sponsors high quality workshops, concerts, and events by local presenters and nationally recognized speakers, authors, and musicians. Volunteers are needed to help with ticket sales and other varied tasks especially the evening of the event. Team Leader: Cheryl Chura (817) 423-2965.

Garden Team: This team designs, plants, beautifies, and maintains various garden areas around the church campus. Team Leader: Bryant Griffith (817)467-2217

Office Team: This team helps to prepare our monthly newsletter for mailing and other day to day office tasks. Contact person:  Audrey Pemberton, (817) 423-2965

Prayer Ministry: Through our chaplaincy program and other prayer activities, individuals can serve our spiritual community and deepen their spiritual lives. Contact Bruce Verkruyse, Pastoral Care Director(817) 423-2965

Service and Outreach Ministry: Outreach into our church community and into the larger community of Ft. Worth is an important part of our vision. Various opportunities to serve are available .An Outreach Fest is held each January that highlights our outreach ministries for the coming year. New Opportunity: Unity’s Spiritual Friend Program

A Spiritual Friend is a volunteer who helps individuals and families navigate and integrate into our Unity community. A Spiritual Friend is an arrow who points toward resources, groups and classes.

Criteria:

• A member of Unity Church of Fort Worth

• Has taken Unity 101, Membership Class and Unity 201, The Gift of Service

• Has an understanding of Unity teachings and practices the Unity principles

• Has signed a covenant committing to follow through with the duties and boundaries of a Spiritual Friend.

Duties:

• Length of committed contact with an individual or family 3 months

• Serves for 6 months (like other volunteer commitments) but finishes out 3 month contact with individuals or families

• Make bi-monthly contact via phone, email or mail, based on individuals desire.

• Offers to sit with individual at a worship service or invite to a Unity group you attend

• Keep confidentiality

• Familiarizes individual with communication avenues of the church, i.e. weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter, other places to find information (bulletin boards, flyers, etc.), church directory, and brochures

• Educates individual on available groups, classes and volunteer opportunities

Boundaries:

• Gives no advice or counseling

• The Spiritual Friend and individual are the same gender
