How to Become a Member
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Unity Church of Fort Worth.
Unity is an inclusive and accepting spiritual movement teaching and living principles that are life-enhancing, affirmative and practical.
As you pursue your path to membership we encourage you to explore the universal spiritual truths we teach, enjoy fellowship with other like-minded individuals, and know that Unity Church of Fort Worth is a place of unconditional love for you and for all people.

Why Consider Membership?
- Becoming a member is a personal, substantive step which confirms to you and the community that you are committed to giving your utmost to live the Unity way of life. For those who commit, "Providence moves too."
- Membership in Unity helps to transform the old feeling of "not belonging." Many of us arrive at Unity having searched for a place where we feel at home. Embracing membership affirms, "I belong!"
- Committing to membership is a public affirmation that says "I love this church" and what it teaches and therefore I want to inspire others to step forward and publicly acknowledge their love also.
- Only members can participate in voting on important church matters - board member selection, purchase of real estate, calling of a special meeting, etc.
- As a member of Unity you become a part of the growing group around the world that stands for the universal principle that all souls are divine human beings and have the Spirit of God within them. We believe it is this emerging group which will eventually free the world from all the false ideas that isolate and discriminate and establish peace and harmony for all people.
Path to Membership
- Attend this ministry for three consecutive months or more.
- Attend the Culture of our Community introductory class and sacred circle and read The Story of Unity by James Dillet Freeman.
- Attend the Foundational Class focusing on the classic Unity text Lessons in Truth or read the book in your own time and share your thoughts with a trained mentor.
- Attend a discussion of Eric Butterworth's book Discover the Power Within You.
- Participate in the Spiritual Baptism ceremony during the 11:00 a.m. service on New Member Sunday.
When do these Classes and Spiritual Baptisms take place?
The Culture of Our Community classes and circles are offered four times a year. Lessons in Truth is taught in the Spring and Fall each year.
The discussion group focusing on 'Discover the Power Within You' meets as needed.
Key Unity Principles & Teachings
- There is only one Presence and one Power in the universe and in our lives, God, the good.
- God is individualized in us as the Christ Spirit.
- Life is consciousness and thought is formative.
- All things ultimately work together for our highest good.
- Each person is free in matters of faith. There are many paths that lead to God.
- Unity offers a practical way of life more than a set of beliefs, a teaching rather than a creed.
- Unity is Christian - though we recognize the Truth and goodness found in all religions, we accept Jesus Christ as our primary teacher and Wayshower.
- Unity practices the Presence of God through prayer and meditation, aligning with God and putting God first in our lives.
- Unity practices unconditional love and acceptance for all people.
- Unity is positive, uplifting and life enhancing.
Membership Convenant

The new members joining Unity Church of Fort Worth have the opportunity to sign a membership covenant to seal a sacred relationship with God and their new church community.
Now we invite all current members who would like to recommit to their spiritual life and our church to also make this covenant.
As a new member of Unity Church of Fort Worth I willingly enter into this covenant with God and my spiritual community.
- I commit to deepen my relationship with God.
- I awaken to the truth that we all are divine human beings of infinite possibility and I commit to do my utmost to honor this truth.
- I endeavor to practice the spiritual principles of Jesus Christ as taught by Unity.
- I chose to support Unity Church of Fort Worth through my gifts of time, talent, and treasure for it is in giving that we all receive.
- I commit to do my best to develop my spiritual life through study and regular practice of affirmative prayer and meditation.
- I agree to welcome new people to Unity Church of Fort Worth as I am guided.
- I joyfully acknowledge Unity Church of Fort Worth as my spiritual home.
