Sacred Safety

At Unity Church of Fort Worth, children are a valued and respected part of our ministry. We hold all children and youth as precious gifts created by God, and worthy of a nurturing environment in which to blossom.

We take seriously our responsibility to provide the safe and loving environment our children deserve. We maintain Sacred Safety practices in order to ensure the safety of all participants in our Youth and Family Ministry program.

Some of our Sacred Safety procedures are outlined below, and we ask that everyone respect and abide by the following guidelines.

Background Checks

Our paid staff and volunteers who work with our children are carefully selected through an application process, which includes a nation-wide criminal background check.

We provide thorough training for our paid staff and all volunteers regarding the developmental stages of the children they are working with, the learning objectives of each class, and all safety procedures.

Sign-in & Sign-Out Process

Our Sign-In and Sign-Out process is a simple and easy way to ensure that our children are leaving with the correct people. You can find your child’s class attendance sheet on the classroom door. Please initial your child in, and initial them out after class.

If you child is in the nursery or Early Childhood class, the sign-in sheet is located in the entrance to their classroom.

If you child is in the Lower or Upper Elementary classes, or in the Uniteens class, they will be on the playground after class, and the sign-out sheets will be with the teachers.

If your child is in the Youth of Unity class, the teens are allowed to sign themselves in and out of class. We recognize that many teens drive themselves to church on Sunday, and may not have an adult present with them to sign them in or out.

Please be aware that at the bottom of each attendance sheet is the following release statement:

LIABILITY REALEASE: By initialing this attendance sheet, I release the Unity Church of Fort Worth from all liability of my child.

Food in the Classroom

Due to the potential allergies to various foods that the children may have, we do not allow food or drink in any of the classrooms.

In order to prevent cross-contamination of any items that a child may consume or be exposed to, we ask that parents leave any food or drinks in their vehicles and do not bring food items into the classrooms.

Additionally, we recognize the value of a clean and safe environment for the youth, and are committed to keeping the classrooms clean by preventing any spills in the room or onto the children.

If a parent feels the need to feed their child during the service, they are welcome to sign-out their child and feed them in the Fellowship Hall.

Pictures of Participating Children

Unity Church of Fort Worth occasionally has photographers to capture the participants of church activities and events.

Our photographers only photograph children at events in which the parents are present. This includes church-wide events, children in the church services, and family activities. We do not allow pictures to be taken of children during class or at time when the parents are not present.

The photographs taken are occasionally used on publications to be displayed at the church only (flyers, bulletin boards, slide-shows, etc.) and are only posted on our church website with signed consent from the parents of each child in any given photograph. We do not post pictures of children on social media websites, such as Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter.

If you wish for your child to never have their photograph taken, the Youth & Family Ministry Registration Form has an “Opt-Out” check box for you to check. For further information, please contact the Youth & Family Ministry Department.
