YFM News & Updates
Promoting Students
If you have a child moving from the pre-school class into the elementary classes, or from the elementary grades into the Uniteens class (6th-8th grade), and you are interested in discussing these important transitions, please contact Sarah Byrd, YFM Director. She is happy to discuss this more thoroughly and meet the needs of you and your child. Leslie Woods is also available for discussing the needs of Nursery and pre-K students.
Family Fun Day
The YFM department is hosting a Family Fun Day Garden Party. We will be celebrating our greater UCFW community Family on July 11th in the garden. We will have a lunch fundraiser hosted by our Y.O.U. group, outdoor and indoor games, and an acoustic jam session! Please join us from 12:30-2pm on Sunday, July 11th.
Tree of Wisdom
We have put up a “Tree of Wisdom” in each classroom. We will be adding leaves of wisdom to it throughout the year at the end of each curriculum block. Let’s envision these trees of wisdom growing and adding more leaves (as our students grow and add more spiritual Truth to their lives) throughout the year!
New Sunlight Center Look
The Sunlight Center is taking on a new look as we create a contemplative and holistic space for the students to learn and grow in. Contemplative comes from the word contemplate and is a space that is conducive to inner reflection. Holisitic comes from the same root as Holy and Whole. In the sacred space that we create, we teach our children that we each have the whole and perfect Christ Spirit within. We continue to develop coherence and sacredness in the Sunlight Center.
Curriculum
We will be using the Jungle Safari: Finding God Everywhere. This curriculum teaches our children to recognize God in themselves, friends and family, Nature, and the World.
9:30 Circle
The 9:30 Circle age range has expanded to include Uniteens and Y.O.U.rs and meets in the Fellowship Hall. If you know of any child or teen attending the 9:30 service on Sunday mornings, please invite them to join us for this inter-age class!
Summer Camp Month
This year, our August curriculum is Summer Camp: Connection. During August all of the Sunday classes will meet together in Johnson Auditorium for summer camp adventures – Unity style! In addition, August holds a Family Sunday at the end of the month, and we will be presenting the theme and teachings of Camp Month in the service! We will display our art created in Sunday classes in the Fellowship Hall during August.
