Message from Board President
I received the largest lesson of my life about giving and receiving and want to share it.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital and LifeGift, an organization that strives to save and enhance lives by maximizing organ and tissue donations, partnered and commissioned me to create a sculpture. The dedication of my work was a very humbling and overwhelming experience. One family’s young mother and wife made her transition this past February and her organs saved lives. Another family lost their son and brother, just one year ago, to drinking and driving and his organs and tissue have given others the opportunity to continue living. His family is working hard, not only educating families about organ donations but also trying to educate young adults about drinking and driving. A young single mother spoke about being a kidney recipient. Her sister passed away unexpectedly so Divine Order has her being a mother to her young son and to her 2 young nieces. She is so grateful for the opportunity to continue living in order to take care of them. Several young children were there learning a lesson about giving and pointing out their grandparent’s name on the plaques. Then their family had their photographs taken with the sculpture.
All of these folks have holes in their hearts but understand and are very grateful for God’s blessing of life. Their understanding of giving unconditionally is a lesson that I will never forget.
Let us learn from these courageous folks and make the most of each and every day and each and every one of God’s gifts.
Blessings to All,
Rebecca
