Sunday Prayer Chaplain Services
Prayer chaplains are available each Sunday following the 9:30 and 11:00 worship services. They are easy to identify. They will be wearing a name badge and be located by the Joy banners on the side of the sanctuary. Their ministry is to hold spiritual space, listen, pray, and hold what they hear in confidence. If you have a concern, joy, or just want a hug, the chaplains welcome you.

Monthly Wellness Calls
Prayer chaplains make monthly wellness calls to congregants who would like to receive them. You do not need to be a member of the church to receive a wellness call, but we do ask that you attend here and consider this to be your church home. If you choose to be on our wellness calling list you will receive monthly phone calls from your assigned prayer chaplain. If they are unable to reach you by phone they will leave an affirmation on your  voice mail or write you a note. In addition, chaplains pray regularly for all those on their calling lists. If you would like to be on a chaplain calling list, please contact the church office, 817.423.2965.

How does a Unity Prayer Chaplain differ from a Chaplain in a hospital or care facility?

Unlike hospital chaplains, Unity Prayer Chaplains are not ordained and are not trained to counsel people. Unity Prayer Chaplains are trained to do three things only: hold spiritual space, listen, and pray. Unity Prayer Chaplains are not trained to go out and “minister” to the community-at-large but are trained as a lay resource to help meet the pastoral care needs within our Unity of Fort Worth community.

Unity Church of Fort Worth Prayer Chaplain Covenant

As a Unity Church of Fort Worth prayer chaplain I commit to:

  • A daily spiritual journey which is based on practicing love, faith, prayer, and gratitude.
  • Demonstrate an active commitment to Unity principles and beliefs in my daily life.
  • Hold spiritual space of possibility for others and myself, knowing and trusting that the Presence of God is in charge.
  • Prayer both with myself and with others.
  • Express the desire and ability to actively and empathically listen to others.
  • Honor the spiritual path, growth process, and individuality of others.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in the well being of congregants and the other prayer chaplains.
  • Hold in strict confidence all that I hear from those I serve.

I agree to put this commitment into action through service to the Unity Church of Fort Worth community in the following ways:

  • Have a willingness to accept and complete each assignment given with a cheerful heart. (arrange for a sub if I can’t fulfill my Sunday prayer commitment)
  • Provide a loving presence at services especially on those Sundays I am scheduled to pray with those in need.
Make telephone contact with those assigned to me on a monthly basis and share with them an affirmative prayerful thought.
