Town Hall Meeting

The Town Hall Meetings are held twice a year in early January and in May to bring inspiration and information to the congregation and to provide a forum for discussion. They generally last an hour, from 12:30 - 1:30 pm

Town Hall Meetings are not business meetings. Rather, their aim is to keep communication open and to share exciting developments and challenges in the church's life.

The most current Town Hall Meeting minutes are displayed below.  At the bottom of this page, you can download these minutes and minutes from previous meetings in Microsoft Word format.

Town Hall Meeting:  February 4, 2007

The meeting began with a song led by Melinda Allen.  The opening prayer was led by Lisa Workman, President of the Board of Trustees.  During her opening remarks, Lisa introduced the new Town Hall Meeting format.

Church Achievements and Future Plans

Paul Roach, Senior Minister, highlighted goals achieved since the last Town Hall Meeting and outlined plans for future growth and development.

The Core Leadership Team has been a very successful tool.  It represents a departure from top down leadership and promotes initiative.

The roofing campaign was a success.  We achieved our financial goal.  Plans for the final stylistics and appearance of the roof are under consideration.

Bryant Griffith has been appointed church landscaper.  He will incorporate wild-scaping in the new landscaping design for the campus.  Plans are also in place to repair the prayer garden fountain.

Substantial donations allowed the building of the new labyrinth.  The office has received lots of positive feedback from those who have made use of it.

Forty days of prayer for peace will begin on Ash Wednesday and continue through Lent.

Chaplains are now called prayer chaplains.  Prayer is to be the main and central focus of the chaplaincy program.  Linda Clements has been chosen as lead chaplain.

The Handbook for a Healthy Ministry has been completed and published in a temporary form.  Bound versions of the document will soon be available to members.

The Parkland Project at Eagle Mountain Lake has been added to our list of charities that we regularly support.

A Wellness Ministry is to be created to bring together all the healing modalities contained in existing programs such as Spiritual Healing Touch, Active Meditation, Yoga and others.

The Youth and Family Ministry has announced plans to establish a Parent-Teacher Association.

A Tech Team made up of volunteer members will help the church take full advantage of current technology.  This cyber ministry could possibly include a blog and computer accessible archives of church documents.

Calendar of Events

Lisa Workman made a brief presentation of upcoming events and activities.

Finance Report

Board Treasurer Joe Greenslade reported that the church is in good financial health.  Income is currently exceeding expenses.

The Simple Giving program was started in January, and the initial response is encouraging.  Members were encouraged to sign on, and sign up forms were made available.

The Logos accounting software is currently being installed, and the cash flow system of accounting will be adopted in March.  This should make financial reports clearer and easier to understand.

A question was asked from the floor concerning staff health insurance.  Lisa Workman explained that providing insurance for such a small number of people still isn’t feasible.  The board will be considering an increase in the stipend currently provided for staff members.

Announcement by Ed Conrad

Ed Conrad announced that he would be leaving the ministry of Unity of Fort Worth after Easter.  He and Katherine will still attend Unity and Kathryn will remain active in the music program and other activities.  Ed hopes to be able to involve himself in some form of spiritual teaching and healing.  He asked for all to join him in praying that the right and perfect person will come forward to take his place as associate minister.

The meeting was closed with a song led by Melinda and a prayer led by Paul.
