Paul's Message
We are LIVING Our Truth
There is an air of excitement in Unity these days. The Association of Unity Churches recently conducted market research to create a brand identity map to best position Unity as a spiritual movement in our world. Important focuses that emerged were the importance of inclusivity, making a difference in our world, the power of prayer and our Spiritual principles, and the practical nature of our message as a way of life.
These ideas and initiatives have strong resonance with what is happening at Unity Church of Fort Worth. Our new Spiritual Development Program, Unity Wellness Center and unfolding strategic plan based on connecting, growing and serving reflect the same positive, inclusive and practical approach. The shift is in the direction of living the Truth that we espouse. Living it means taking it from the conceptual to the actual, from the nice idea to the life changing reality. This IS exciting.
Yes, there are many stressors in our world today. The state of the economy, ongoing wars, environmental challenges, over-population, and the threat of terror are among the growing list that confront us.
As Unity students, however, we do not take our lead from the external events of our society and world. We take our lead from the transformative nature of the Spirit within us. We understand that dwelling on the negative, the problem or the apparent lack doesn’t diminish these things. On the contrary we increase what we focus upon, whether it be positive or negative. The advice of the Masters is to refrain from focusing on anything less than the nature of love, wisdom and possibility within us. These expansive qualities are free gifts from God and cry out to be used every day. Choose this day, therefore, whom you decide to serve. In other words, choose where you decide to place your focus.
I know, without doubt, that it is God’s will for us to thrive not just survive. The abundant life is not based on market forces but on the power of our own minds in action.
As we go forward I encourage you to join with me and many others in our world, and decide to live the wisdom that we know.
Let that wisdom express as discernment and skill, as love and forgiveness, as authenticity and willingness.
Remember that within you and me and everything there is a vast storehouse of God’s good. It is our duty to unleash that energy for the good of all.
There is no limit to who you are destined to be and no limit to the joyous expansion of divine love that can express in our spiritual community.
As we go forward together we are creating a world that works for all. We are acting on our cherished beliefs. We are living it!
