Dear Unitics,
As of April 30 the church’s income for the year still exceeded our expenses, but that positive gap is closing at a troubling rate. We sincerely appreciate those who are supporting the UCFW and we hope you will continue to do so generously.
We have an exciting change occurring in the business and financial management of our church organization which puts us in a wonderful position to prepare for and manage more growth in the future. Carolyn Billington C.P.A. , our Finance Manager since early 2007, has decided to return to retirement. She came out of retirement in 2007 as a favor to some of her friends at UCFW to help us re-organize our bookkeeping procedures. She has done a great job for us in that regard.
As in most things, when one door closes another opens. Many of you probably are not aware that Bruce Verkruyse has an extensive business background, including being a C.P.A., Prior to his work and service in Unity education he held several highly responsible positions in business management and accounting. During the last year and a half he has assisted Carolyn in the re-vamping of our accounting systems.
After learning of Carolyn’s wish to retire Paul and the Board took the opportunity to pray for divine guidance and opened our minds to all possibilities. Bruce’s input was sought because of his familiarity with the operations of UCFW and his business background. During that process Paul thought to ask Bruce if he would be interested in changing his role for UCFW to serve us in a different way to help strengthen our organization to prepare us for future growth.
Bruce prayed on this and gave it careful consideration, after which he decided this is the right thing for him to do. As of July 1, Bruce will become our Business Manager and Accountant. In this role he will take over the responsibilities related to the business aspects of our church and over-seeing about half of our staff members. This structural change will free Paul to concentrate more on his ministerial duties and the development of new media projects like Unity FM and a web video ministry. These efforts will help UCFW to further widen our circle of good by sharing the Unity message more broadly through more media.
When you see Carolyn and Bruce during this transition period between now and July 1 please thank them for all the good they have done for us in the past and send them love and blessings as they move into their new pursuits.
I encourage all of you to freely share your time, talents, and treasures with UCFW and you can stand assured you will prosper in many wonderful ways.
Peace, love, and prosperity,
Joe Greenslade
